Anatomy of a Pipeline 1999-2000
By his own convincing measure, Holownia is the newest photographer on the block. I can think of no other body of work like this one, work that becomes a hymn to restraint and a celebration of impeccable visual judgement. The photographs in Anatomy of a Pipeline are fulgent with time and considered looking. “It’s a question of thinking this photograph is part of a longer span that explores time within our landscape, that explores time within our lives”, he says. For Thaddeus Holownia photography is not so much about the decisive moment as about the decided process.
